As a core component for pipeline antifreeze and equipment insulation, the service life of electric heat tracing is significantly affected by installation quality, operating environment, and maintenance methods.Through scientific and standardized maintenance and management, the service life of electric heat tracing belts can be effectively extended and replacement costs can be reduced. The following practical suggestions are provided from the dimensions of daily inspection, cleaning and maintenance, and troubleshooting to extend the service life of electric heat tracing belts.
Daily check:prevent problems before they happen
Regular inspections are the foundation for ensuring the stable operation of electric heating belts. It is recommended to check the appearance of the electric heating belt once a week, with a focus on observing whether there is any damage, aging, cracking,or loose joints.Especially in stress concentration areas such as pipeline bends and valve connections,it is necessary to carefully inspect whether the insulation layer is intact. At the same time, check whether the temperature control device is sensitive, ensure that the temperature sensor is tightly attached to the pipeline, and avoid misoperation caused by poor contact. If dust or debris is found on the surface of the electric heating belt,it should be cleaned up in a timely manner to prevent local overheating from causing safety hazards.
Cleaning and maintenance:reduce environmental erosion
In humid, corrosive gas or salt spray environments, metal components of electric heat tracing belts are prone to oxidation and rusting, and the insulation layer may be corroded. For such scenarios,it is recommended to conduct a deep cleaning of the electric heating belt once every quarter.Wipe the surface dust with a dry soft cloth and avoid using corrosive cleaning agents. For coastal areas or chemical sites, protective sleeves such as PVC or stainless steel sheaths can be installed on the outer layer of the electric heat tracing belt to isolate harmful substances such as salt spray and acidity. In addition, regularly check whether the grounding device is reliable to prevent safety accidents caused by leakage.
Fault handling:precise positioning problem
When the electric heating belt does not generate heat or generates uneven heat,it is necessary to systematically investigate the cause of the malfunction.Firstly, check if the power supply is normal and confirm if the circuit breaker and fuse are intact;Secondly, use a multimeter to measure the resistance value of the electric heating strip. If the deviation from the nominal value exceeds±10%,there may be an open circuit or short circuit; Finally, check if the temperature setting of the thermostat is reasonable to avoid system shutdown due to parameter errors. For locally damaged electric heating strips,do not cut and repair them on your own.Instead, contact professionals to replace the entire product to ensure safety and sealing.
Storage and Handling:Avoid Physical Damage
Long term unused electric heat tracing belts should be stored properly, avoiding direct sunlight, high temperature baking,or heavy object compression. It is recommended to wind the electric heat tracing tape onto a disc with a diameter not less than the minimum bending radius specified by the product, and place it in a dry and ventilated warehouse.Dragging or throwing is strictly prohibited during the transportation process to prevent damage to the insulation layer or breakage of internal wires.
